Violinist Caroline Durham brings a unique and authentic voice to the concert stage, combining rigorous classical training with a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration. A graduate of Columbia University, The Juilliard School, and Yale University, she is currently based in London, where she studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

About Me

Caroline Durham is an American violinist and recent graduate of the Yale School of Music, where she earned her master’s degree studying with Tai Murray. She is currently continuing her studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the tutelage of David Takeno. Caroline completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia University through the Columbia–Juilliard exchange, studying neuroscience alongside violin performance, and worked with Masao Kawasaki and Laurie Smukler at Juilliard.

At Guildhall, Caroline has been named a finalist in the prestigious Gold Medal Competition and will perform Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2 at the Barbican Hall on April 30. She also won Guildhall's Max and Peggy violin award, won a section violin position in the renowned Aurora Orchestra, and became a 2026 string experience fellow with the London Symphony Orchestra. Caroline has won several national and international awards, including 4th prize at the Klein International String Competition, 1st prize at the MTNA competition, 1st prize at Stillman-Kelley, along with competing in advanced rounds of Fischoff International Chamber Competition and the Blount-Slawson concerto competition. Some of her favorite experiences in her studies include attending the Verbier and Fontainebleau summer festivals, working as a teaching assistant for Columbia’s biology department, and working at Yale’s community music program, Music in Schools.
